A Love Letter

December 29, 2012

Dear dad,

When I was little, you've created the most beautiful landscape where we used to play. Those guava trees you’ve planted were good for climbing. The fruity smell of jack fruits when ripen fills the air. I remember that you would slice it in equal portions and I would happily sell them.

The beauty of the orchids when they bloom felt victorious because you’ve given me the responsibility to water them every morning. Finally when they’re ready, we would sell them in the market place. Whenever I did something wrong instead of beating me up with a belt or a slipper you’d just pinch my nose.

I missed those crazy nick names that you would call us and how you’d tickle my back and not stopping until I wake up.

You taught me how to swim and you were very patient. I missed our conversations on a quiet evening and we would talk about anything.

I wasn't prepared to lose you but I decided to remember nothing but good memories of you. Still, I will miss you, always.

Your daughter,
Lou (Develia)
